From the boardrooms to the front lines, firms that provide services to the mortgage industry have been strategically building their organizations with seasoned executives.
The chief financial officer and chief accounting officer of Tree.com Inc., Matthew A. Packey, resigned on May 28, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Severance negotiated by Packey was $182,292 plus a COBRA subsidy of up to $11,133.
Tree.com said Christopher R. Hayek took over as chief accounting officer and senior vice president on May 28. In addition, the Charlotte, N.C.-based company said Tamara W. Kotronis took over as SVP, financial planning and analysis and investor relations.
Fidelity National Financial Inc. announced this month the appointment of George P. Scanlon as chief operating officer. His prior position was with Fidelity National Information Services, where he started in 2008.
| A new real estate practice partner at the Atlanta office of Jones Day is Richard W. White, a statement Friday said. White focuses on structured finance and servicing matters tied to commercial and residential mortgage-backed securities, and he has a particular emphasis on pre and post-securitization servicing and asset management issues.
White previously worked for Kilpatrick Stockton. The chairman of Experian plc and Standard Chartered PLC, John W. Peace, resigned as a director of CoreLogic Inc. on June 1, according to a news release. He joined the board of directors last year. Outsourcing firm ZENTA announced this month the addition of Pete Baynard as a client manager. Baynard previously worked at United Guaranty and Toll Brothers Luxury Home Builders. Also joining ZENTA as client managers were former Saxon Mortgage and CitiMortgage Inc. executive Cindy Smaney, former mortgage insurance executive Ron Paulin and former PHH Mortgage executive Gary Eakin.

The hirings help Charlotte, N.C.-based ZENTA to achieve its goal of assigning a senior U.S. mortgage banker as its single point of contact for clients.
In Dallas, MRG Document Technologies said on June 2 that it hired Kathleen Mantych as senior marketing director. Before her new gig, Mantych reportedly worked at ISGN and Wolters Kluwer Financial Services.
Appleton, Wis.-based LoanSifter said last month that Rob Withers was hired as VP of product development. Withers will help design new pricing engine solutions and enhance existing lines. His prior employer was Optimal Blue, and he worked at Sollen Technologies before that.

Last month, Allonhill announced that Kathy Ireland was hired as director of securitizations at the due diligence firm. She will manage securitization solutions at the company — which in January unveiled a service for residential mortgage-backed securities issuers and underwriters. The hiring follows the recent addition of Ross Gammill.
Ireland formerly worked at Fidelity Southern Corp. Allonhill CEO Sue Allon said the new recruit is an expert at “challenges of securitized pools, working with rating agencies and supervising loan reviews.” Also in May, MDA Lending Solutions announced the addition of Jeff Bonner, Richard Kelly and Jeff Lahay as VPs of strategic sales. The trio will manage sales of real estate settlement and collateral valuation services throughout the country.

RealtyTrac recently reported that Jesse Gant was hired as VP of product and user experience, a role that will require him to develop a strategy and team that will increase membership and revenue.
Two sales managers recently hired by Idaho Falls, Idaho-based DocuTech Corp. were Tony Inskeep and Diane Newland. The new executives each have more than 20 years’ mortgage experience. Inskeep will focus on the top 200 lenders, while Newland will target large mortgage and banking institutions and work with top software companies to develop integrations.
William Epstein has joined Capstone Advisory Group LLC as a managing director leading its valuation practice, a May 18 news release said. Prior employers of Epstein include American Appraisal Associates, Navigant Capital Advisors and Houlihan, Lokey, Howard & Zukin.
An announcement last month indicated RSVP named Steve Gardner VP of East Coast sales. The Concord, Calif.-based company publishes auction notices in 2,300 publications on behalf of law firms and trustees in 26 states and Washington, D.C.
Another appointment last month was that of Mark R. Ruh to managing director and senior portfolio manager of financial services investments at NewOak Capital LLC. The New York-based company said Ruh “will direct the day-to-day activities of the bank recapitalization investment team.”
