Some appraisers are being removed from the Federal Housing Administration’s Appraiser Roster.
In Mortgagee Letter 2009-36, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development reminded lenders that eligibility requirements for FHA appraisers change on Oct. 1.
Appraisers who are not state certified will be removed from the roster, according to the letter. The certification includes certified residential or certified general.
HUD noted, however, that appraisers who are removed from the roster but subsequently meet the minimum state certification eligibility requirements can apply for reinstatement.
“Impacted appraisers are encouraged to review Mortgagee Letter 2008-39,” HUD said. “Appraisers seeking to become state certified should review the 2008 Real Property Appraiser Qualification Criteria.”
