The increase in active government-funded loan modifications slowed during the final month of last year. Non-bank servicers had the three biggest gains.
As of the end of 2013, there were 926,792 active permanent modifications completed through the Home Affordable Modification Program, the Obama administration reported Friday.
The number was up 4,725 from November, not as much as the gain of 4,929 the prior month.
But HAMP growth was up from December 2012, when active permanent modifications expanded by 4,665.
The biggest gainer during December 2013 was Ocwen Loan Servicing LLC, where active permanent modifications rose by 4,725 to 182,015 — the most active modifications of any HAMP servicer.
Next was Nationstar Mortgage LLC, which increased 856 from November to 89,880.
After that was Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., where the 138,681 active permanent modifications was 425 more than in November.
No. 4 Select Portfolio Servicing Inc. pushed active HAMPs up 254 to 31,984 as of Dec. 31, 2013.
CitiMortgage Inc. finished 2013 with 49,378 active permanent modifications, 189 more than as of Nov. 30.
OneWest Bank stopped reporting HAMP activity.
