The number of government-funded active loan modifications increased at a pace that was more than double the previous month’s.
Mortgage servicers had 917,138 active permanent loan modifications that were processed through the Home Affordable Modification Program in place as of October.
That was a gain of 7,918 over the prior month. The month-over-month increase was more than double the 3,557 gain in September.
It was also greater than the 6,200 increase in October 2012.
October 2013’s biggest gainer was Ocwen Loan Servicing LLC, which pushed up active HAMPs by 1,684 from September to 162,093.
Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., landed in the No. 2 spot, increasing 1,466 to 137,156 active permanent modifications as of Oct. 31.
After that was Select Portfolio Servicing Inc., where the total was up by 1,253 to 31,382.
No. 4 was Bank of America, N.A., which had an increase of 983 to 77,869.
Nationstar Mortgage LLC rounded out the top five with a gain of 185 to 87,652.
A loss of 3,288 active permanent modifications left CitiMortgage Inc. with 49,576 as of the end of October.
