Jobs at the best places to work might be hard to come by, but the mortgage sector has its share of such opportunities.

For prospective mortgage employees who monitor employer rankings from local news publications, Quicken Loans Inc. has star appeal.

The Detroit-based lender reported in November that it was named the #1 Top Workplace in Michigan by the Detroit Free Press for the fourth consecutive year.

United Shore Financial Services has been recognized by multiple publications.

The Troy, Mich.-based company has been recognized as a Top Workplace by the Detroit Free Press. It has also been designated as one of Metro Detroit’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work. In addition, United Shore says it was recognized as one of the National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.

V.I.P. Mortgage was ranked No. 1 by the Phoenix Business Journal among the Best Places to Work for large-sized companies.

The Scottsdale, Ariz.-based firm said it has ranked among the top-10 for three consecutive years. It has a FUN Committee that plans regular events such as catered breakfasts, ice cream socials and bingo Fridays. Employees are treated to an in-house masseuse, flexible hours and remote access.

A Dec. 9 statement from Walpole, Mass.-based Mortgage Master said that it recruited “103 best-in-class loan originators” this year as part of a strategic expansion. Staff expansion was complemented by the opening of 20 new branches in 13 states. Total licensed states are 26.

The average Mortgage Master originator closed $23 million during ht 11 months ended Nov. 30.

Churchill Mortgage reported earlier this month that it hired 16 mortgage professionals. The new jobs are located in Georgia, Michigan, Tennessee and Virginia.

The Brentwood, Tenn.-based firm said it has added more than 100 new employees this year, and total headcount now stands at more than 300. Churchill provides human resource information at www.JoinChurchill.com.

“A highly competitive compensation package” is being offered to experienced loan officers hired by Total Mortgage Services. The Milford, Conn.-based company said this month that it is aggressively recruiting high quality loan officers who can maintain relationships with past customers, realtors, builders and financial advisors. Total said it is expanding its core presence in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.

Total claims that is has a 16-year track record of responsible lending and no loan buybacks.

Total President John Walsh noted in the announcement that originators need to conduct an in-depth evaluation to determine if they are working at the right company. Such a move is all the more critical given the impending implementation of Qualified Mortgage standards.

Endeavor America Loan Services is preparing for growth. It has recruited Anna Napier as its correspondent eastern divisional sales manager. It has also hired Natalie Abadir as senior vice president of production on the wholesale side. Endeavor America President Darius Mirshahzadeh sees the new hires as just the tip of the iceberg.

“Although many of our competitors are bracing themselves for a very bumpy 2014, we expect to double our headcount to over 200 employees with annual production of $5 billion in the coming year,” Mirshahzadeh said.

Lori Jasicki and Paul Buege are among the new hires at Inlanta Mortgage. Two senior loan officers, Resa Werra and Mollie Burke, were hired in Oconomowoc, Wis., and six more new employees were hired at other branches throughout the country.

Anikim Credit Corp. is recruiting mortgage loan officers in Texas. It’s clients reportedly include “some of the biggest banks.”

Oregon originators are another target for Anikim.

Eight former Guadalupe National Bank originators were hired by USA Mortgage in Creve Coeur, Mo., the St. Louis Post Dispatch reported.
