Fannie Mae issued a bulletin about new originator registration requirements.
The secondary lender outlined new data requirements for loan originators in Lender Letter 02-2009 last year.
Identifiers would be required for loan originators, loan origination companies and appraisers.
In Lender Letter LL 2011-02 issued Tuesday by the Washington, D.C.-based company, sellers were advised that loans delivered to Fannie on or after July 29 will require the originator’s identifier and the loan origination company’s identifier as registered in the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System.
Fannie said it is making the requirement in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act.
While the July 29 deadline applies to originators at financial institutions, identifiers on non-bank loan originators who reside in states that have already implemented the NMLS need to be included as of the date that state met the NMLS transitioning deadline.
