Radian Guaranty Inc. insured more home loans in July than at any other month in its history. In addition, delinquency was at its lowest level in at least four years.
Last month’s mortgages insured at the Philadelphia-based company amounted to $5.29 billion, according to monthly operational data.
Business jumped from June, when Radian wrote $4.76 billion.
New activity has soared from July 2012, when the mortgage insurance company wrote just $3.37 billion in new policies.
A spokeswoman for Radian confirmed that volume during July 2013 was the highest ever.
During the first seven months of this year, Radian’s volume totaled $29.640 billion.
Last month finished with 77,142 delinquent policies — the fewest since at least 2009.
Delinquency fell from 78,257 one month earlier.
A year earlier, the delinquent inventory was 97,012.
Using an estimated 814,335 outstanding policies as of July 31, the delinquency rate was an estimated 9.47 percent.
Radian reported in its second-quarter earnings report that the delinquency rate was 9.70 percent as of June 30.
The estimated delinquency rate as of July 31, 2012, was 13.09 percent.
Radian says it employs more than 696 people.
