People searching for a job in a mortgage-related field have many factors to consider — including how well their new employer will treat them. Here are some firms recognized as best employers.

Ellie Mae Inc. reported that it was among large companies named to the
2017 Bay Area Best Places to Work by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

Jonathan Corr, who is president and chief executive officer of the Pleasanton, California-based organization, said Ellie provides employees with opportunities and tools to grow professionally.

Gallup
says that there is one common trait among the best workplaces: intentional focus on engagement. It is based on that trait that it identified employers for its 2017 Gallup Great Workplace Award.

Among the employers to receive the award was Regions Bank, a May 4 statement from the Birmingham, Alabama-based bank said. Regions noted it was the third consecutive year it received the award.

First place in the
Baltimore Business Journal’s Best Places to Work 2017 contest was awarded to Meridian Home Mortgage, a May 26 statement said. The ranking was based on thousands of anonymous employee reviews from hundreds of companies collected by Quantum Workplace.

Competitive salaries and benefits, as well as fun cultural events, were cited among the reasons for Westminster, Maryland-based Meridian’s standing.

In Tampa, Florida,
HomeBanc said last month it was selected as one of the Tampa Bay Times Top Workplaces. It was the fifth year in a row on the list.

A survey of nearly 30,000 employees from 25 industries conducted by Statista
was the basis for Forbes magazine’s America’s Best Large Employers for 2017, which ranked Arvest Bank No. 208 out of 500. In its May 25 announcement, the Fayetteville, Arkansas-based company said it was the highest-ranking community bank and the only Arkansas-based company on the list.

Waterbury, Connecticut-based Webster Bank said last month that it ranked among the top 300 mid-sized employers in Forbes’ ranking. The ranking was based on surveys from more than 62,000 people at leading financial firms.

Mountain America Credit Union announced in April that it was No. 19 on the Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance by Great Place to Work and Fortune. The financial institution’s employees reported high levels of trust in management and camaraderie and pride in what they do. Almost all employees said they enjoy a psychologically healthy workplace.

“When you honor and value your employees by providing a stellar workplace experience, it reflects in the quality of service they provide to each other and our members,” Mountain America Credit Union CEO and President Sterling Nielsen said in the statement. “This is one of the key ingredients to our success.”

On May 2, Mountain America said it was named as one of the
Best Places to Work in Idaho. The West Jordan, Utah-based company said it has over a hundred employees across Southern Idaho.

The Idaho ranking was determined through an
employee satisfaction survey conducted by POPULUS.
