New business at First Choice Loan Services Inc. moved up modestly from the prior quarter. At the same time, the lender trimmed its mortgage staffing.
Home lending volume at the East Brunswick, N..J.-based company landed at 2,251 mortgages closed for $0.564 billion during the three months ended Sept. 30.
That was a slight improvement over the 2,144 loans funded for $0.553 billion in the second quarter.
The latest activity brought volume to 5,750 loans originated for $1.470 billion from the period beginning Jan. 1 and ending Sept. 30.
First Choice disclosed its production numbers as part of the Mortgage Daily Third Quarter 2014 Mortgage Origination Survey.
All of First Choice’s business is generated through the retail origination channel.
The lender reported that it doesn’t service any loans.
Headcount at First Choice finished September at 476 employees.
Staffing subsided from 492 people as of mid-year 2014.
