Hundreds of new jobs are expected to be added at Movement Mortgage LLC as a result of the opening of a new facility in Virginia.
The Indian Land, South Carolina-based organization on Thursday celebrated the grand opening of a new operations center in Norfolk, Virginia.
On hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new location were Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe and Norfolk Mayor Kenny Alexander.
The new facility is being leased from the city of Norfolk. Movement is investing $3.1 million in the location.
“The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the city of Norfolk to secure the project for Virginia with a $600,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund approved by Governor McAuliffe,” the announcement said. “The renovations have resulted in a 93,000 square foot state-of-the-art operations center to support Movement’s rapid national growth. The new office includes a fitness center, prayer room and cafe for its employees.”
In addition to housing 550 employees who worked at the lender’s former operations center in Virginia Beach, Movement has plans to add more than 200 jobs over the next three years.
So far, 619 people are working at the new facility.
Movement reported a total nationwide staff of 4,193
employees as of March 31.
